The Electrical Apprentice course is a hands-on online program structured into four levels, providing a comprehensive understanding of the principles required to work safely and effectively in the electrical field. By completing this program, students will gain knowledge and skills in the following areas: Residential and Commercial Electricity Components, OSHA Safety Regulations, Circuits and Wiring, and National Electrical Codes (NEC).

Electrical Institute Level 1

Level 1 begins with the study of OSHA’s construction safety rules and introduces apprentices to the principles associated with electricity, electrical theory, and the basics of electrical systems. These fundamentals are necessary in understanding complex NEC requirements covered throughout the program. Digital multimeter principles will also be covered. In the latter part of Level 1, students will be introduced to, and begin utilizing, the National Electrical Code.

Electrical Institute Level 2

Level 2 continued advanced training in OSHA construction safety standards with an emphasis on safe work practices and hazard prevention. Expanded knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), focusing on Chapters 1–3 covering general requirements, wiring and protection, and wiring methods and materials. Studied alternating current (AC) equipment and applications, while developing proficiency in residential and commercial wiring methods, installation practices, and code-compliant electrical systems. Gained hands-on experience applying NEC requirements to electrical installations in both residential and commercial environments.

Electrical Institute Level 3

Level 3 continued advanced training in OSHA construction safety standards and workplace hazard prevention. Expanded knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), with a focus on Chapter 4, covering equipment for general use and installation requirements. Developed an understanding of common industrial electrical applications, methods, and industry standards. Gained knowledge of motor theory, motor controls, and industrial control systems, including installation, operation, and troubleshooting techniques. Studied electrical requirements for hazardous locations, special occupancies, and specialized equipment. Received introductory training in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and energy storage systems, including code requirements, system components, and safe installation practices.

Electrical Institute Level 4

Level 4 Completed advanced training in electrical code applications with an emphasis on complex National Electrical Code (NEC) calculations and code compliance. Developed proficiency in performing detailed load calculations, service sizing, feeder and branch circuit calculations, and other advanced electrical design requirements. Studied electrical estimating principles, including material takeoffs, labor calculations, project costing, and bid preparation. Reinforced knowledge of electrical theory and motor controls through advanced review and practical application. Continued OSHA construction safety training with a focus on maintaining safe work practices and compliance in electrical construction environments.
