General Transfer Credit Requirements

Transfer credits are awarded during the admissions process once official transcripts are received. The following are basic requirements for receiving transfer credits at LCC.

Credit Requirements
  • Must be from an institutionally accredited college or university.
  • Grade of “C” or better is required.
  • Course descriptions and learning objectives must parallel LCC course offerings.
  • Must be applicable to the student’s Program of Study (Academic Major).
Credit Limits
  • A maximum of 75% of the credit hours of a Program of Study (certificate, diploma, or degree) can be awarded from all outside sources.
  • A minimum of 25% or 9 credit hours (whichever is greater) must be earned by curriculum instruction provided at LCC. Note: Credit by Examination, Continuing Education credit received at LCC, and other Credit for Prior Learning does not count towards the required 25% minimum.
  • Evaluation of transfer credits is completed by Admissions by the end of a student’s first semester.

Important Note About Transfer Credits

Students are advised that transfer credits and grades accepted by Lenoir Community College do not infer acceptance by other educational institutions. Students will receive evaluations of all official records submitted before the end of their first semester of curriculum enrollment.
