University Transfer FAQs
In short, yes. LCC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Courses designated as Universal General Education Transfer Component (UGETC) courses are guaranteed transfer to public NC four-year colleges and schools and colleges/universities who have signed the articulation agreement. Other courses transfer at the discretion of the receiving college or university. Students who complete an associate degree at LCC are guaranteed 60+ hours of transfer to most NC institutions (Note: Students who do not complete the entirety of their degree before transferring are not guaranteed that all credits will be accepted at the four-year institution).

Lenoir Community College maintains bilateral agreements with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science programs at several North Carolina Universities. These programs are designed to maximize a student’s time at the community college level and ease the transition to the university program. The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement between the University of North Carolina and the North Caroline Community College System clearly lays out the stipulations for credit and status guarantee, and rests upon several assumptions common to successful statewide comprehensive articulation agreements.
