Program Intro
The Emergency Medical Science Bridging–A45340B program was developed to allow currently certified, non-degree Paramedics to earn a two-year Associate of Applied Science Degree in Emergency Medical Science. A total of 45 transfer hours will be awarded to certified EMT-Paramedics. Admission requirements must be met prior to matriculation.

- MAT 110 – Math Measurement & Literacy
This course provides an activity-based approach that develops measurement skills and mathematical literacy using technology to solve problems for non-math intensive programs. - BIO 163 – Basic Anat & Physiology
This course provides a basic study of the structure and function of the human body. Topics include a basic study of the body systems as well as an introduction to homeostasis, cells, tissues, nutrition, acid-base balance, and electrolytes.

This course stresses the principles of managing a modern emergency medical service system. - PSY 150 – General Psychology
This course provides an overview of the scientific study of human behavior. Topics include history, methodology, biopsychology, sensation, perception, learning, motivation, cognition, abnormal behavior, personality theory, social psychology, and other relevant topics.
WCU’s Emergency Medical Care Bachelor of Science Program
An articulation agreement is in place between LCC and Western Carolina University’s Emergency Medical Care BS program. This program can be completed through distance education once students complete the Emergency Medical Science AAS program at Lenoir Community College.
