When should you complete your FAFSA?
Right now! The Sooner you apply for Financial Aid the sooner you’ll know your award information. We always recommend filing your FAFSA as early as possible.
What forms do I need to complete to apply for Financial Aid?
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. LCC will request additional information/forms after we have received your FAFSA if they are required by the Department of Education. You can check what additional information is needed by visiting WebADVISOR.
How often do I apply?
The FAFSA is valid for one year only, so it is necessary to reapply each year.
Do I need to be admitted before I can apply for Financial Aid?
No. You can apply for financial aid any time after October 1. However, you must have completed the entire Admissions Process (including high school transcripts, GED scores, previously attended college/university transcripts, SAT Scores/placement test scores) and be admitted into an eligible program before LCC will notify you of your aid eligibility.

Is it best to wait until income tax forms have been completed before submitting FAFSA?
No. It is permissible to use estimates of your income tax data when you complete your FAFSA as long as they aren’t far off from actual values. However, before you can receive financial aid, you must have completed your current year federal tax return. Either you or the Financial Aid Office will need to correct your figures and resubmit your application for corrections after your new tax return has been filed.
What is the FAFSA school code for Lenoir Community College?
Our federal school code is 002940. This is the quickest way to search for LCC when making your school selection on the FAFSA.
What is the deadline to apply for Financial Aid?
The Federal Processor recommends that you submit your FAFSA prior to March 15. Lenoir Community College’s deadline is June 30. The earlier you apply, the earlier we will be able to notify you of your financial aid eligibility.
I probably don’t qualify for Financial Aid. Should I apply anyway?
Yes. Many families mistakenly think they don’t qualify for aid. There is no good excuse for not applying. Additionally, there are a few sources of aid, such as state grants, scholarships, and private alternative loans that maybe available.
What is the maximum family income cutoff for Financial Aid eligibility?
There is no specific cutoff. Each family’s financial situation is different and many factors other than income are used to calculate the EFC (expected family contribution) that is used to determine award eligibility.
What factors are considered in determining financial need?
Several variables, such as family size, number of family members in college, age of older parent, income, and asset information are included in the calculation of a student’s financial need.
What if my family’s circumstance change after I submit the FAFSA?
If your situation changes because of unusual circumstances after submitting the FAFSA, contact the Office of Financial Aid. We may request you submit an appeal with appropriate supporting documentation for review.
Can part-time students receive Financial Aid?
Yes. Eligible students who are ¾ time (9-11 credits), ½ time (6-8 credits), and less than ½ time (1-5 credits) can receive the federal Pell grant, state aid, and scholarships.
How do I apply for an LCC Scholarship?
Visit Foundation Scholarships to apply online. Applications are also available in the Foundation Office.
I received an outside scholarship, should I report it to the Office of Financial Aid?
Yes. It may be necessary to reduce your financial aid if an outside scholarship arrives after our aid offer.
What will happen to my Financial Aid award if I drop a course or withdraw from LCC?
If your tuition is adjusted because you drop a course, it may be necessary to reduce your financial aid. If you totally withdraw from LCC during the first 60% of the semester, your financial aid will be reduced and you may owe LCC and/or the U.S. Department of Education an overpayment. Dropping courses and withdrawing are academic actions that might seriously affect your future aid eligibility because of failure to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). It is your responsibility to fully understand the implications of such decisions, more information is available under the Satisfactory Academic Progress portion of the Financial Aid page.
