The
Water and Waste Treatment Technology Curriculum prepares individuals
for
employment in the areas of water purification, wastewater treatment,
and the treatment of industrial wastes.
Course
work includes theory and practice of water and wastewater treatment,
environmental
regulations, laboratory procedures, and operations. Additional training
is provided in computer operations, management, and budgeting.
Graduates should qualify for certification as water plant operators, wastewater
plant operators, industrial waste treatment system operators, or laboratory
analysts. Experienced graduates should qualify as managers and supervisors
of environmental treatment systems.

OUTLOOK
More than 200 available positions over three years is the project employment
outlook. Positions are available statewide with municipalities, county
governmental agencies, industry, private companies, and state governmental
agencies.
Positions
available include Potable Water Treatment Plant Operator, Wastewater Treatment
Plant Operator, Potable Water Distribution Operator, Wastewater Collection
System Operator, and Environmental Laboratory Technicians.
