-An E-mail account with a provider that will not limit the size of documents you can send or receive
-Windows 2000 or higher on a laptop or desktop – it is important to have an extra serial port on the computer, unless you purchase one of the latest student models listed below. These models are either wireless or have USB connections for your newer PCs.
-Additional computer specifications are available on request from the program instructor
-Contact your instructor for recommended court reporting software choices
-If you do not wish to purchase your own equipment, lab time can be requested on campus
- A shorthand writer that is capable of writing in realtime directly to a computer- a Stentura Protégé or élan Cybra Student Model is recommended. When ordering either model of the machine, please be sure to specify the key top choice of #33412, which includes a wide asterisk and a wide DZ and request that they are installed prior to delivery. A new machine costs approximately $1440 using the LCC investment certificate that comes with the informational packet. The steno machine may be new or used, as long as it is in running condition. To purchase a new or used machine, contact Stenograph 1-800-323-4247, Extension 5076. If you need a copy of the Investment Certificate, contact the program instructor at 252 527 6223, Ext. 511. |
