The Computer Engineering Technology curriculum at Lenoir Community College provides the skills required to install, service, and maintain computers, peripherals, networks, and microprocessors and computer controlled equipment. It includes training in both hardware and software, emphasizing operating systems concepts to provide a unified view of computer systems. Coursework includes mathematics, physics, electronics, digital circuits, and programming, with emphasis on the operation, use, and interfacing of memory and devices to the CPU. Additional topics include networks, programming languages, Internet configuration and design, and industrial applications. Certifications are recommended in a number of employment opportunities today. The Computer Engineering Technology Program offers the information for you to sit for three certifications: A+, CET, and Cisco. Certifications will put you ahead of others when applying for employment in the computer field. The Computer Engineering Technology Department offers an AAS Degree, a Diploma, and three Certificates. The credits earned in the Certificates and/or the diploma can apply toward credit in the AAS degree. |
