Biotechnology is becoming the way of the future incorporating science and technology into industry. In the next 10 years, there will be an influx of jobs in the biotechnology field, according to the state census.
The aim of LCCs Biotechnology Program is to produce graduates that can fill the ever growing need for skilled technicians working in industrial production and research.
The biotechnology courses will prepare students capable of performing biotechnology techniques that include DNA extraction, DNA cloning, protein isolation, separation and chromatography. LCC currently offers a 1+1 program for an associate degree in biotechnology with Pitt Community College and a 2+2 with East Carolina University for a B.S. degree in Agricultural Biotechnology.
