QUALIFICATIONS:
A master of library science (MLS) degree is required. Five (5) or more years working in an academic library setting such as a community college, a 2-year college, or other similar setting is preferred. The coordinator must be able to work with a variety of patrons from high school through adulthood. The successful applicant must be creative and flexible and possess strong organizational and human relations skills.
POSITION DUTIES:
The coordinator of library services is a multifaceted position that requires various duties and responsibilities. The coordinator will be responsible for providing bibliographic instruction and conducting library tours. He/she will assist library users with the location and retrieval of information using an online catalog, the Internet, NCLIVE, and other library research tools (print and non-print). The coordinator will assist library users with computers, computer application software, copiers, and microform reader/printers. He/she will assist with circulation and cataloging activities, process interlibrary loan (ILL) requests, and prepare statistical reports and maintain documentation. Knowledge of the SIRSI library system and OCLC ILL is preferred. He/she will assist with collection development and technical services activities. The coordinator will assist faculty with program certification requirements related to the library. He/she will process ID/library cards for LCC staff and students and assist in the preparation of library publications. The successful candidate will contribute to the attainment of institutional goals through cooperative team effort within the college and community. The coordinator of library services must be self-motivated, have diverse computer skills, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
