QUALIFICATIONS:
A master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in biology is required. Teaching experience in a community college is preferred. The instructor must be willing and able to work with students with differing abilities. He/she must be computer literate, creative and flexible. The successful applicant must be a team player and possess strong human relations skills.
POSITION DUTIES:
The primary instructional responsibility and function is to teach biology. The instructor will develop long range plans, recommend curriculum and textbook changes, and prepare and revise course syllabi. He/she will advise students, complete instructional reports, and serve on standing and/or task committees. The instructor is responsible for student recruiting, registration, and class scheduling. The instructor must also maintain scheduled classroom hours, post and maintain office hours, and keep accurate academic records. In keeping with the college’s philosophy, each employee is expected to carry out a specific job assignment within the area of education and specialization. The instructor will contribute to the attainment of institutional goals through cooperative team effort within the college and community. Evening and weekend classes may be assigned on and off campus. The instructor must be self-motivated and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
