What do Valentine’s Day and books have in common? If you’re a book lover, you’ll get to share your love for books the day before Valentine’s Day, Feb. 13, at Lenoir Community College Jones County Center.
The college is starting a free book lover’s group in Jones County in conjunction with the Lenoir-Jones Reads program. The book group started in January by reading “Their Eyes Were Watching God” written by Zora Neale Hurston. Members will meet to discuss the book on at 2 p.m. Feb. 13 at the LCC Jones County Center on N.C. 58 next to the Civic Center.
The first 10 people to sign up will receive the book free. Afterwards, members will read a new book every month, and then meet to discuss it the next month. Free books will be offered for each month for the next six months, thanks to a grant from the North Carolina Community College System, Basic Skills Section.
Anyone who is interested in participating must be 16 years of age and older. Bring a friend, neighbor or even your spouse or older child who loves to read to share the joy of exploring books and building literacy in Jones County! The Neuse Regional Library is this book in their libraries in Jones County for those who want to borrow the book.
To sign up and reserve your spot in the LCC Jones County Book Lovers Group, call Jones County Center Director Renee Sutton or Dawn Kantz at 252-448-5021. |
