More than 100 enthusiastic parents and friends turned out recently to support their schools in the first Lenoir Community College Double Dutch Competition held in conjunction with the college's 50th anniversary celebration.
Bynum School, Moss Hill Elementary, and Pink Hill Elementary schools participated in the event. Jumpers participated in four divisions: Individual Speed, Individual Freestyle, Double Dutch Speed and Double Dutch Freestyle.
Individual Speed is where one jumper with a single rope jumps as fast as he or she can in a one minute period with judges counting the number of times the right foot jumps. Double Dutch Speed is the same as individual except there is one jumper and two ropes turned by two people.

Points are given for creativity, performance and the number of skills the team performs.
