Shana Hammett will be performing at Lenoir Community College's 10th annual Broadway and Beyond: Melody Magic in Song and Dance at 7:30 p.m. April 18 in the Waller Auditorium as part of the college’s 50th anniversary celebration. Tickets are $5.
The show is produced and directed by LCC Music faculty Carolyn Crossland and Crossland and Reid Taylor will co-host the event.
Performing "How Could I Ever Know" from The Secret Garden. Hammett was born in Los Angeles and began her career in theatre, making her stage debut as Nora in Brighton Beach Memoirs. Shortly she found her greater love in opera. Her music performances have taken her from coast to coast in the United States and to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.

She is a graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor and masters in Vocal Performance. She has studied with Andrew Wentzel and Jacqueline Bobak and participated in Master classes with Benton Hess, Carroll Freeman and Paige Whitley-Bauguess.
In opera scenes, Hammett has sung the title-role in Lucia di Lammermoor as well as Violetta in La Traviata. Her other roles have included Rapunzel in Into the Woods, Lucy in The Telephone, Tamiri in Mozart’s Il re pastore with ECU opera, and Nedda in Pagliacci with Capital Opera of Raleigh. This March she returned to Capital Opera to perform Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte. Additionally, she has advanced to the regional level in NATS competitions and was a finalist for the 2005-2006 Concerto Competition at ECU.
Currently she resides in North Carolina where she teaches applied voice to younger singers. She joined the faculty of Barton College in Wilson as its applied voice teacher. |

Suzanne Gallaher will be performing at the 10th annual Lenoir Community College Broadway and Beyond musical extravaganza.
No stranger to the stage, Gallaher is a regular performer in the Lenoir Memorial Hospital "Follies" and the Grainger Hill Performing Arts productions. The Broadway songs she has performed include "Little Girls" from Annie, "Life is a Cabaret" from Cabaret, and "I Feel Pretty" from West Side Story. She has portrayed a number of singers and celebrities, including Nancy Sinatra, Dolly Parton, and Liza Minelli. She will be performing "Don Juan" from the Broadway musical, Smokey Joe's Cafe in Broadway and Beyond.
She is the wife of Dr. Robert Gallaher and is the chair of the LCC Foundation. |

Olene Solomon will be performing "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess in the 10th annual Lenoir Community College Broadway and Beyond musical extravaganza.
Solomon has been employed with LCC for 13 years in the area of Basic Skills. She has a love and passion for singing and has performed in many arenas. She is a member of Emmanuel Hill Memorial Free Will Baptist Church where she sings with the Dorothy C. Pitt Chancel Choir. She’s a long time member of the Kinston/Lenoir Community Chorale under Maestro Vincent Bryant. The Chorale performs an annual Christmas Concert and other engagements throughout the year. Under Bryant’s leadership, Solomon and other local artist performed at the renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City. She has sung several performances of Handel’s "Messiah" at LCC. She recently performed at the Jabberwock, a scholarship pageant sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. Sorority. |
