LCC Graphics Students win 19 Twin Oaks-PICA Awards

Twelve Lenoir Community College Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology students recently won several PICA Awards including two First-Place Best of Category awards.

PICA, the Printing Industry of the Carolinas, Inc., and its PrintForce project, recently held a printing competition for high school and college graphic arts students.

The event, the sixth annual Twin Oaks Student Achievement Awards, offered recognition in various categories. Several LCC graphics students submitted entries and the results were announced in January.
LCC students competed against other two-year and four-year college students from North and South Carolina including Appalachian State University, Clemson University, and Chowan College.

LCC students won a total of 19 different awards in various categories including two First-Place Best-of-Category Awards.

Students were recognized at the LCC annual awards ceremony recently and presented with their PICA Awards.

The award winners from LCC are:

• Linda Cronk, third place Award of Excellence Offset printing, one-color folded;
• Michael Gaddy, third place Award of Excellence Offset printing, one-color flat;
• Travis Hooks, third place Award of Excellence Offset printing, two-color with halftone flat;
• Nathaniel Ingram, first place Best of Category Offset printing, two-color folded;
• Sierra Jones, second place Special Judges Award Offset printing, duotone flat;
• Jewel Owens, second place Special Judges Award Offset printing, one-color flat, third place Award of Excellence Offset printing, two-color folded;
• José Perez, first place Best of Category Offset printing, duotone flat, second place Special Judges Award Offset printing four-color flat, third place Award of Excellence Offset printing, two-color with halftone flat; third place Award of Excellence Screen printing, one-color on textile;
• Jeffrey Terry, second place Special Judges Award Offset printing four-color flat;
• Kristen Weaver, third place Award of Excellence Offset printing, two-color folded;
• Brandon Potter, third place Award of Excellence Offset printing, one-color flat;
• Shawn Williams, second place Special Judges Award, Offset printing four-color flat, second place Special Judges Award Offset printing, duotone flat, second place Special Judges Award Offset printing, two-color with halftone flat;
• Jeanne Williamson, second place Special Judges Award Offset printing, duotone flat, second place Special Judges Award Offset printing four-color flat.
