Message From the President Regarding Hurricane Katrina

In my over 50 years of living in this great country, I have never seen a time of such devastation as I am seeing with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. My heart goes out to each victim of the storm and to everyone affected by the occurrence. It appears to me that, at least in some way, that is all of us. I want you to know that Lenoir Community College is actively involved in efforts to provide assistance to victims of Katrina. I have asked Phi Theta Kappa to provide the leadership to unite our efforts so that we will operate more efficiently and therefore more effectively. While PTK is providing the leadership, the members of that organization cannot make the impact that we hope to make working alone. If you are interested in assisting the college in making a difference, please contact Phi Theta Kappa Advisor Carolyn Crossland, Phi Theta Kappa Co-Advisor Wendy Philyaw, Director of Institutional Advancement Jeanne Kennedy, or Director of Student Activities Lind Hartsell. Any of these individuals can lead you in the right direction.

If the circumstances regarding Hurricane Katrina are proving too much for you to bear alone, please see one of our counselors. We have an excellent counseling staff professionally trained to assist you in working through your concerns and your feelings. Let me assure you that the college leadership is here to work with you always, but especially during times such as these. We have a variety of resources available to you. Please talk with your instructors, advisor, counselors, fellow students, and others about your concerns. Let us know how we can help.

Dr. Brantley Briley
President
