Cavenaugh joined the college faculty in the summer of 2003. He now currently holds an AWS certification as a Welding Inspector, Welding Educator, and also is AWS certified in MIG, TIG, and Stick Welding procedures.
The Welding Program is an Educational Institution Member of the AWS and is actively participating in preparing students to become entry level and advanced level AWS certified welders. He also has a bachelor of science degree in Vocational Education from Southern Illinois University and has over 25 years of experience in welding. The American Welding Society was founded in 1919 to advance the science, technology and application of materials joining worldwide. “ It affords students the opportunity to become nationally recognized by holding AWS certification," Cavenaugh said. "For industry, having AWS certification means that students who have completed the program are well trained and meet rigorous standards recommended by and recognized by AWS and the welding industry worldwide.” Welding is
a service oriented career that there is great demand for. Jobs are available
worldwide for individuals who have the skills to perform the tasks of
welding. Lenoir Community College is dedicated to the success of each
student that enters the various program of study offered by the college.
