LCC Spotlights October Students of the Month

Lenoir Community College students of the month for October are Cathy Merideth of Kinston and Betty Perry Ham of Pink Hill.


Merideth is currently enrolled in the Court Reporting and Captioning Program. She is recipient of the National Dean's List award and a member of the 2002-2003 Dean's List. She is active in the Court Reporting and Captioning Fast Fingers Club serving as its president.

A single mom with three small children, she is a work study student and an active member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor fraternity at LCC. She is also a member of the PTA at Northwest School and an active member of Rockford Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

"She is a well deserving student who puts who best efforts in all that she does," said Janice McElhaney, program head of the Court Reporting and Captioning program.


Ham is currently enrolled in the Pre-Practical Nursing program. She enrolled at LCC after being in the workforce for 20 years.

Enrolled in the Workforce Investment Act Program, she is a member of the Quaker House Disciple Church of Christ where she is a choir member and serves on the kitchen committee.


"She has perfect attendance in my class and is a pleasure to have as a student in class," said English faculty Dawn Baldwin.
