LCC Spotlights Students of the Month

Lenoir Community College students of the month for January are Michele Marie Carr of Kinston and Jessica McMahon of Pink Hill.

Carr is currently enrolled in the Surgical Technology Program. She is a member and active in the Surgical Technology Club and works full time at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Besides the demands of her studies, she goes beyond the call of duty in volunteering her time to fellow students with their academics and lab components of the program. She is married and has a son, Matthew.

"Michele is most deserving," said Surgical Technology program head Jimi Spears. "She always puts other's needs before her own. She is a pleasure in the classroom."

McMahon graduated third in her class at East Duplin High School. She is currently enrolled in the Computer Programming curriculum and has a grade point average of 3.98. She received the Mary P. Booth scholarship and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She was also awarded the All American Scholar and was a marshal for LCC.

During her first year at LCC, she worked four jobs while maintaining an above average grade point average. She is currently working part time in the business office at the college. She is also a member of the Beulaville Presbyterian Church choir.

"She is an outstanding employee who always strives for perfection, " Controller Deborah Sutton said. "She is always willing to alter her personal schedule to suit the needs of the business office. When given a task, she always does it accurately and professionally. I am personally glad that she is a student at LCC."
