LCC Spotlights April Students of the Month

Lenoir Community College students of the month for April are Stephanie Davis, Joyce Hawkins-Ellison of Grifton, and Lisa Shivar of Pink Hill.


Davis is currently enrolled in the Business Administration program at LCC. She is a 2001 graduate of South Lenoir High School and has been employed in the Admissions office for more than a year.

A member of the Student Services Committee, she was one of three students selected for a highly competitive federal government position in a student work experience program. "Stephanie is a valuable asset to the Admissions team," LCC Enrollment Management Director Tammy Buck said in nominating Davis.



Hawkins-Ellison is currently enrolled in the Human Services Technology Program and a member of the Human Services Technology Club. She is vice president of Alpha Delta Omega, the Human Services Honor Organization, and is an LCC Ambassador.

She has received the Minority Leadership Award, Outstanding Club Member Human Services Technology Award and serves on the Food Bank and Distribution Committee at the Bread of Life Church in Grifton. "Joyce is an outstanding student," said Human Services Technology Program Head Rob Van Meir. "She is an excellent individual with a caring nature."


Shivar is currently enrolled in the Psychology Program at LCC and currently holds a 3.9 grade point average. A single mom, she is an LCC Ambassador and served as an LCC Marshal at the 2002 graduation.

A member of the International Honor Organization Phi Theta Kappa, she is a full time student and a full time employee. "This young woman is a wonderful example of our non traditional students and what they can achieve," said Psychology Program Head Jerry McCullen. "She is a pleasure to teach."
