Recipient of LCC Trustees' Award for Distinguished Alumni Announced

Christopher Jay Wiggins Jr. of Kinston received the Lenoir Community College Trustees' Award for Distinguished Alumni recently. Wiggins is a 2001 Associate Degree Nursing graduate of LCC. He is employed at Lenoir Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, Tarheel Home Health, and is a Lenoir County Red Cross as AED and CPR instructor and an instructor of Community First Aid.


The distinguished alumni has received the 2001 Emergency Department Employee of the Year Award, the President Service Excellence Award for the Month, Quarter and Year 2001 and was recognized as LMH Employee of the Year for 2001.


He is recognized by his peers as being a key member of the Emergency Department staff and has been since he joined LMH in 1996. In nominating him for the LCC Distinguished Alumni Award, it was said that Wiggins was dependable, conscientious and dedicated. You always see a smile on his face and hand outstretched to help.


Other distinctions incluide serving as lead corpsman in Desert Shief/Storm supervising four corpsman and providing medical service for 163 Marines, and received Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V for Valor. He also received a Good Conduct Medal, and a Combat Action Ribbon.

The Lenoir Community College Board of Trustees recently recognized LCC graduate Christopher Jay Wiggins Sr. as its 2003 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient.
