Beech Scholarship
Endowed
Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey E. Beech recently endowed a scholarship in their name with
the Lenoir Community College Foundation.
The Eloise C. and Harvey E. Beech Scholarship is to be presented to a
student who is economically deprived, academically talented and has a
strong desire to improve racial and human relations in this world.
The Beeches have a long history of community-mindedness and spirit. After
many years of dedicated service in public education, Mrs. Beech retired
as a counselor at Kinston High School.
She graduated from North Carolina College in Durham at the age of 19.
She is also a graduate of Atlanta University School of Social Work in
Atlanta, GA, and the Catherine Dunham School of Dance in New York. She
also holds a masters degree in Counseling from New York University.
"We appreciated the dedication to education that Mr. and Mrs. Beech
have demonstrated through their lives," LCC President Dr. Steve Scott
said. "This scholarship will enable students to pursure their careers
who may not otherwise have the opportunity." LCC Foundation Executive
Director Jeanne Kennedy said this donation will enable the Foundation
to serve more students seeking an education.
