Alpha Delta Omega Concludes Operation: Support Our Troops

Alpha Delta Omega the National Honor Society for Human Services at Lenoir Community College recently completed their drive for donations for our troops in Iraq. The Honor Society asked the community to bring the needed items and to drop them off at the college. Items requested included foot powder, sunscreen, lip balm, books, puzzles, Kool-aid, and personal hygiene products.


Candy Griffin, president of the Honor Society organized several television appearances to promote the fund drive. Joyce Ellison, vice president, helped to organize the church community to assist with the efforts.
"These students when above and beyond to organize this event and really shows what it means to care about your community and fellow human beings," Robert Van Meir, Human Services Program Head said. "They donated a lot of their time to this project and some of their own money."


The Honor Society donated the items to the Lenoir County Chapter of the American Red Cross for delivery to our troops overseas. "The fund drive was a success and a testimony to what can happen when a community comes to together to make a difference," Van Meir said.
