LCC Promotions

Eighteen people were recently promoted at Lenoir Community College.

"I am a firm believer in cultivating the leadership within an organization and best utilitizing people's talents and skills in the most effective manner," LCC President Dr. Steve Scott said. "These individuals have demonstrated leadership abilities that will continue to move the college forward," he said.

"In an effort to nourish and develop the leadership potential of LCC employees, we have developed the first Presidential Leadership Academy at LCC ," he added. Twenty-eight employees were selected to participate. Guest speakers included Martin Lancaster, president of the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS); Kennon Briggs, vice president of the NCCCS and former Jones County manager; and Clay T. Hines, NCCCS legal counsel. Topics include Community College course development, laws, budgeting, leadership, economic and workforce development.

Those recently promoted are:

- Tammy Buck, Director of Enrollment Management;

- Debbie Craven, Enrollment Management assistant;

- Bill Fortney, Director of Industrial Programs;

- Alice Tingle, Director of Economic Development;

- Coach Bobby Dawson, Director of Student Center and Athletic Programs;

- Jay Carraway, Associate dean of the Greene County campus;

- Gerry Fox, Director of Information Services and Distance Education;

- Bobby Van Brunt, Dean of Business and Industrial Programs;

- Linda Whittington, Staff assistant to the Vice Presidents;

- Jane Gridley, Program head of the Early Childhood Program;

- Ika Dawson, Provisional track position as WIA counselor;

- Joan Korneygay, Provisional track position as WIA counselor;

- Ozell Williams, Staff assistant to the Dean of Business and Industrial Programs;

- Tezra Parker, WIA Youth counselor;

- Carolynn Hill, Coordinator of Occupational Extension Programs;

- Faith Bynum, Coordinator/instructor of Occupational Extension Programs;

- Sue Morris, Staff assistant to the Dean of Continuing Education;

- Frances Gaskins, Cooperative Education Coordinator and student advisor; and,

- Richy Green, Director of Marketing and Recruiting.
