36 LCC Students Inducted Into Phi Theta Kappa

Thirty-six Lenoir Community College students were recently inducted into the Omicon Rho Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international Honor Society of two-year colleges, during the organization's fall induction ceremony.


Alexis Welch, dean of Health Sciences, was the speaker for the event. LCC President Dr. Steve Scott recognized special guests.Others participating were LCC Board of Trustees chairman Grady Bethel; Phi Theta Kappa adviser Carolyn Crossland; Phi Theta Kappa co-adviser Wendy Taylor-Philyaw, Phi Theta Kappa member and past president Joseph Stroud and the 2002-2003 Phi Theta Kappa officers: Tracy Walters, President; Robert Jones, Vice President of Service; Jaime Rouse, Vice President of Scholarship; and Lisa Lewis, Vice President of Leadership and Fellowship.


Faculty who were honored by the inductees were WIA couselor Reid Taylor, Business faculty Marilyn Phipps, adjunct faculty John Isenburg, Early Childhood Program Head Kimberly Batts, Mathematics faculty Marilyn Miller, Biology faculty Maria Pharr, Culinary faculty Ike Wessner, Surgical Technology program head Jimi Spears, Criminal Justice program head Frank Rocker, Human Services faculty Rob Van Meir, Business faculty Stewart Campbell; Business faculty Judy Deme, Honors program head Dr. Kim Turnage, CISCO Academy faculty Gail Edwards, Culinary program head Jeff Yourdon, Automotive Technology program head Gary Clements, Psychology program head Jerry McCullen, and Medical Assisting program head Linda Sue Johnson. LCC President Dr. Steve Scott was recognized for his support of Phi Theta Kappa and was inducted into the organization as an honorary member.
