LCC Competes in Flight Competition

The Lenoir Community College Lancer Flight Squadron recently competed and finished sixth at the National Intercollegiate Flying Association Region Ten Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference (SAFECON) at Chesapeake Regional Airport, Chesapeake, Va. Those competing were: Matt Allen, David Gambardella, Jonathan Giummule, Amanda Nichols, and Jason Joslin.


LCC competed against the US Naval Academy, Hampton University, Averett University, Virginia Tech University, Liberty University, and Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute with only half the number of team members of the others schools.


LCC also won medals/trophies in the following events: second place out of 25, Short-field Landing; sixth place out of 33, Aircraft Recognition; seventh place out of 25, Computer Accuracy; eighth place out of 16, Navigation; ninth place out of 16, Navigation; tenth place out of 25, Computer Accuracy; tenth place out of 32, Aircraft Preflight Inspection; and tenth place out of 28, Simulated Comprehensive Aircraft Navigation.
