LCC Human Services Program Visits Barton College

The Human Services program recently completed a visit to the campus of Barton College in Wilson to learn about transfer opportunities in Human Services, Psychology, and Social Work.

More than 26 students attended the daylong affair. They were met by Susan Rentle, dean of the School of Behavioral Sciences who explained about their programs including information about a weekend program in social work. Also on hand were Shannon Brewer, coordinator of Transfer and International Recruitment as well as people from the finanical aid office.

The trip included a tour of the campus and was highlighted by an informal exchange between LCC students and Barton College students. Rentle said she was pleased by the impressive turn out of students from LCC.

Robert E. Van Meir, head of Human Services at LCC, said that students need to be exposed to the endless opportunites that exist to further their education and to increase their marketability. "We have quality students who owe it to themselves and to their clients to reach they're full potential as Human Services Professionals," he said. "The best part of teaching is to show a student ways to make their dreams come true."
