ADMISSION POLICY
Students who wish to enroll in distance education courses offered by Lenoir Community College must adhere to the general admissions policy of the college. (See Admissions)

SPECIAL STUDENT CLASSIFICATION
A student who wants to enroll in distance education courses without completing all admissions requirements or declaring a major program of study is classified as a special student. Special students usually are permitted to accumulate fifteen (15) semester hours before fulfilling the regular admission requirements. If there is a prerequisite(s) for the course(s) in which you wish to register, you must provide proof (i.e., transcript or test scores) the prerequisite(s) has been met. For your convenience, you may fax these documents to 252.233-6879, ATTN: Admissions Office.

NOTE: Students classified as a"Special Student" are not eligible to receive financial aid from LCC.

Contact Beth Spence, Director of Admissions/Enrollment Management, at 252-527-6223, ext. 309 or email bspence@lenoircc.edu for more information.

PLACEMENT ASSESSMENT

The Accuplacer, a college placement test, provides information about your level of skill in reading comprehension, sentence skills, arithmetic, and algebra. Scores do not determine acceptance to the college, but are used to help determine your placement in appropriate courses. Review booklets to prepare for the Accuplacer may be purchased from the Learning Resources Center.

The Accuplacer is an Internet-based test that can be administered in a proctored situation anywhere. For more information contact Beth Spence, Director of Admissions/Enrollment Management at 252-527-6223, x 309 or email bspence@lenoircc.edu for additional information or questions.

The placement assessment may be waived with appropriate courses in reading, English, math, or algebra completed at another college. Compass and Asset scores presented from other colleges will also be accepted for admission. The Admissions Office will need a faxed transcript from previous colleges.

OTHER STUDENT SERVICES
Lenoir Community College provides access to the same services to students who are enrolled in distance education courses as are given to traditional on-campus students. For more information on Student Services contact Myra Poole, Dean of Student Services, at 252-527-6223 x 318.
