Lenoir Community College in Jones County is committed to providing programs and activities to enhance social, cultural, economic, and leadership growth, as well as enhance the quality of life of the citizens, the community, and the state. The Jones County Center is committed to offering various programs and services in curriculum and continuing education.

Adult Basic Education and GED courses are offered throughout Jones County at various locations, including Pilgrims Home Church, Maysville Library, Comfort Library, and the Pollocksville Library. English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are held twice a week at the Jones County Center. Painting and craft classes are offered at the Senior Services Building beside the Civic Center. Continuing Education credits for EMS personnel are offered several times each month at various locations throughout the county. Defensive Driving and Escort Certification classes are offered on a regular basis.

Pharmacy Technician, EKG Technician, and Nurse Aid I classes are currently underway, and new students for the upcoming phlebotomy class are now being accepted. New classes are in progress for farmers and their family members who are seeking to enhance their computer training and knowledge. Area high school students are taking advantage of various Huskins and dual enrollment opportunities each semester.

There are numerous workforce development classes that the public can take at no charge. A few examples of these classes include basic computer skills, keyboarding, internet and email, and WorkKeys training which lead to a North Carolina Career Readiness Certification. Plans are also underway to offer a Construction Trades Boot Camp for people who wish to learn basic fundamental skills to enter construction trades. Students attending all of these classes work closely with the JobLink Career Center staff to identify job openings or career advancement opportunities.

One of the center’s newest classes is the Water Resources Management offered by Program Head Pete Onidi. This class is training students in the operation and management of wastewater treatment plants.

A newly formed Book Lover’s Club that meets on a monthly basis has also attracted new visitors to the campus.

New members are invited to attend.
