Health Sciences Admissions
The College is pleased that you have decided to apply for admission to a Lenoir Community College (LCC) Health Sciences Program. All Health Sciences Programs require an application and have specific admission requirements that must be met before a student can be accepted into a program.
These Health Sciences Programs have a competitive admissions process:
- Associate Degree Nursing
- Practical Nursing
- Surgical Technology
A point system is used to select students for admission into these Health Sciences Programs. Students may apply for up to two Health Sciences Programs with a competitive admissions process. You must complete all steps to be considered for the actual program. The selection process will be conducted in early spring of each year for those who have completed the Health Sciences admissions requirements.
Before applying to a competitive Health Sciences Program, students must complete the following steps:
- Application for General College Admission:
Complete an online LCC Application for Admission. Select one of the Pre–Health Sciences Programs for your pre–major. Acceptance into a Pre–Health Sciences Program does not guarantee acceptance into the Health Sciences Program.
- Pre-Associate Degree Nursing – A1030N
- Pre-Practical Nursing – A10300PN
- Pre-Radiography – A10300RA
- Pre-Surgical Technology – A10300SU
- Pre-Polysomnography – A10300PS
Current LCC students skip to step 5. Or if you are currently not attending LCC and you are applying to a second Health Sciences Program and have already completed steps 1–4, skip to step 5.
Submit an official transcript from your high school or provide a copy of your High School Equivalency Diploma. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree are exempt from this high school transcript requirement.
Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended. Falsification or failure to supply the correct information may be considered grounds for rejection or dismissal. If it is determined that you have attended a college that was not listed on your application, the transcript will be required. If you are unable to submit an official transcript due to a hold on your account at the college, you will be ineligible to apply at this time.
- Placement Assessment:
Take any required placement assessments or qualify for a waiver. You may use NC DAP scores taken at another community college. If your math scores or your developmental math classes are more than 5 years old and you have not completed a qualifying college level math class, you will need to retest.
- Lancer Account:
Set up your LCC student account. Check WebAdvisor to see when all transcripts have been received. You must use your Lancer email account to correspond with Health Sciences admission staff.
- INTENT TO APPLY:
You must satisfy any course prerequisites before submitting the INTENT TO APPLY form. For prerequisite information and requirements, choose a program of interest below. The INTENT TO APPLY form is located on each program page. You may apply to 2 programs and the INTENT TO APPLY must be completed for each program.
- Eligibility Review:
You will receive a confirmation email indicating that your INTENT TO APPLY was received. The Health Sciences Advisor will review your transcripts. If you have met the math and/or biology requirements, you will receive a second email indicating you may move to step 7. You will also receive your Health Sciences Application Packet as an attachment to the confirmation email. If you have not provided proof of the math and/or biology requirements, you will receive an email requesting that you contact the advisor to provide missing information.
- Psychological Services Bureau (PSB) EXAM:
The PSB exam is required of all 5 programs in number 5 above. Please visit the PSB page for guidelines, study guides, test dates, how to pay and register for the PSB test.
- Health Sciences Application Packets(s):
Submit Health Sciences Application Packet(s) (received in step 6 – confirmation email) no later than the last Tuesday in January. Incomplete Health Sciences Application Packets will not be considered.
