Heritage Place is located through the door behind the Reference Collection. It houses a special reserved collection of genealogical and local/state historical materials including 19th century newspapers of the Kinston area, census records, church records, land grants, and other colonial records of counties in eastern North Carolina.

The research material focuses primarily on eastern North Carolina, but provides service for Greene, Jones and Lenoir counties and a large section of Virginia.
