PROCEDURES FOR CURRICULUM PROGRAMS

Applicants to all curriculum programs are required to complete the following:

APPLICATIONS: Applications are available in the Office of Admissions in the Administration Building of the college, or by request by calling (252) 527-6223. Click here for online application/submission. Applications are also available in each of the local high schools. International students should contact the Director of Admissions/Enrollment Management for information on the enrollment process.

All applicants will receive a letter of acknowledgment upon receipt of application. A letter of acceptance will be sent upon completion of all admissions requirements. Applicants who do not complete all admissions requirements may be admitted as special students.

TRANSCRIPTS: Applicants are responsible for having official high school transcripts forwarded directly to the Admissions Office. Final copies of high school graduating seniors transcripts must be provided immediately after the course work is completed. Applicants who possess high school equivalency certificates must present either the certificate or the official scores to the Admissions Office. Applicants who have attended other colleges or universities are responsible for having official transcripts from each institution previously attended sent directly to the Admissions Office. Applicants presenting transcripts of completed Bachelor degrees or higher, will not be required to submit high school transcripts, except in the Health Sciences programs, where all transcripts are mandatory.

COMPUTER PLACEMENT ASSESSMENT: All applicants must take the placement assessment or qualify for a waiver as indicated below. The purpose of the placement assessment is to provide additional information in planning students' programs and determining appropriate level of placement for classes. It is not an entrance examination and will not deny admission to the college for any student.

Applicants may schedule an appointment to take the assessment by contacting the Office of Admissions at 252-527-6223 ext. 301, ext. 307, or ext. 385. Students requesting accomodations may contact the ADA counselor. The placement assessment requirement may be waived by the Director of Admissions/Enrollment Management upon receipt of official transcripts if the applicant:

 
a. Has satisfactorily completed one college level English and Mathematics course at or above the developmental or vocational level at a regionally accredited college or university or has submitted proof of college test scores
b. Has made the following minimum scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT):
  Verbal/Reading 500
  Math 500
  Writing 500
  ACT
 
  ACT English 20
  ACT Math 22
  Reading 20
  and has submitted official proof to the Office of Admissions, or
c. Has submitted official Asset or Compass test scores that will be converted to CPTS/ACCUPLACER equivalents
d. HEALTH SCIENCE APPLICANTS may be required to take a pre-admission test prior to applying for the desired program
