LCC Medical Assisting - A45400
The Medical Assisting Curriculum prepares multi-skilled health care professionals qualified to perform administrative, clinical, and laboratory procedures.
Course work includes instruction in scheduling appointments, coding and processing insurance accounts, billing, collections, medical transciption, computer operations; assisting with examinations/treatments, performing routine laboratory procedures, electrocardiography, supervised medication administration; and ethical/legal issues associated with patient care.
Graduates of CAAHEP accredited medical assisting programs may be eligible to sit for the American Association of Medical Assistants Certification Examination to become Certified Medical Assistants. Employment opportunities include physicians offices, health maintenance organizations, health departments, and hospitals.
Applications are accepted throughout the year from qualified applicants.

BEFORE applying to the medical assisting program, a student must complete all  developmental courses including reading, English and math, and must satisfy the math prerequisite by completing one of the following: 

Continuing Education Qualifying placement scores within the last 5 years or
Continuing Education MAT 070 with a grade of “C” or higher within last 5 years or
Continuing Education DMA 010-050 with a grade of “P” within the last 5 years or
Continuing Education MAT 115, MAT 121, 122, MAT 141,MAT 143, MAT 151, MAT 152, MAT 161, MAT 171 or MAT 263 course or an approved college algebra math with a grade of “C” or higher
