The Dental Hygiene curriculum provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to access, plan, implement, and evaluate dental hygiene care for the individual and the community.
Students will learn to prepare the operatory, take patient histories, note abnormalities, plan care, teach oral hygiene, clean teeth, take x-rays, apply preventive agents, complete necessary chart entries, and perform other procedures related to dental hygiene care.
Graduates of this program may be eligible to take national and state/regional examinations for licensure, which are required to practice dental hygiene. Employment opportunities include dental offices, clinics, schools, public health agencies, industry, and professional education.
This is a collaborative agreement with Wayne Community College.

The Application season dates vary from year to year. For the 2012 cohort, the application season will begin on September 6, 2011, and the deadline is February 1, 2012 at 5:00 pm.Please remember, each interested applicant must attend a Health Science session either online or face to face to apply. The eligibility requirements for each program must be met by the date of attendance. Those requirements are as follows: ADN/LPN~at least MAT 080 and CHM 094 within the last 5 years with a grade of "C" or better; RAD~at least MAT 070 within the last 5 years with a "C" or better; POLY~at least MAT 070 within the last 5 years with a grade of "C" or better; Surg. Tech~at least MAT 070 within the last 5 years with a grade of "C" or better; Dental Assisting~at least MAT 060 within the last 3 years with a grade of "C" or better and Dental Hygiene~at least MAT 070 within the last 3 years with a grade of "C" or better.
