The Arts & Sciences Division offers the first two years of a liberal arts college education that parallel the freshman and sophomore years at most senior colleges and universities.

The North Carolina Community College System has an articulation agreement with the University of North Carolina System, so transfer to a senior institution is generally seamless and free of complication.

In addition, the Arts and Sciences Division has an honors program for those students who qualify and a Learning Assistance Program for those who need a review before entering college level courses.

Also housed in the Arts & Sciences Division is the 2+2 Engineering program. This is a special program in which the college partners with the three UNC engineering schools to provide the first two years of a BS in Engineering degree.
