Messiah Rehearsals Continue

It’s not too late to join other area singers and soloists as they continue to prepare for Lenoir Community College’s 16th annual performance of Handel’s Messiah under the direction of Carolyn Crossland, Program Chair of Music at LCC.  The concert is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the LCC Waller Auditorium. Admission is $7 at the door. Doors open at 6:30 PM. The event is sponsored by LCC and the Community Council for the Arts.

Accompanying the choir will be a 15-piece chamber orchestra from the North Carolina Symphony. Soloists include ECU voice faculty Dr. Jami Rhodes, alto, and ECU Head Music Librarian, David Hursh, tenor.  Soprano soloist will be Peggy Vaughan, an active member of the Greenville Choral Society’s Adult Chorus.  She is also the conductor of the Greenville Choral Society Youth Chorale and serves as the Music Director at Peace Presbyterian Church in Winterville, NC.  Joel Gay, Co-Minister of Church Music at First United Methodist in Wilson, NC will be the bass soloist.

Rehearsals will be held in the LCC Waller Auditorium from 2:00 - 3:45 p.m. on Nov. 17, 24, and Dec. 8.  All music and rehearsal CD’s will be provided at no cost to every singer.  No audition is required.
