Area singers and soloists are invited to participate in Lenoir Community College’s 15th annual performance of Handel’s “Messiah,” directed by LCC Program Chair of Music Carolyn Crossland. The Community Council for the Arts cosponsors the program. The performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. December 3 in the Waller Auditorium.  Doors will open at 6:30 with pre-concert entertainment in the Waller Atrium.

A 15-piece chamber orchestra from the North Carolina Symphony will accompany the choir. Soloists include East Carolina University (ECU) voice faculty member Dr. Jami Rhodes, alto; ECU head music librarian David Hursh, tenor; Peggy Vaughan, soprano, conductor of the Greenville Choral Society Youth Chorale and music director at Peace Presbyterian Church in Winterville; and Joel Gay, bass,  minister of music at First United Methodist Church in Wilson.

Rehearsals begin Nov. 4 and continue Nov. 11, 18 and Dec. 2 from 2 to 3:45 p.m. in the Waller Auditorium. Music scores and sectional rehearsal CDs will be provided at no charge.
