Lenoir Community College SUPPORTING FUTURE NURSES
Supporting Future Nurses

Retired Judge Ken Ellis of Goldsboro recently presented the Lenoir Community College Foundation nursing scholarships to be used to support the cost of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) for four LCC nursing students. The national examination is required of all pre-licensure RN program graduates in order to become a registered nurse. Ellis started the annual scholarship as a way to remember his long time colleague and friend, the late M.E. “Zeke” Creech. Creech served as clerk of Lenoir County Superior Court for many years. Pictured left to right, front row, are retired Judge Ken Ellis, nursing students Patricia Pounders of New Bern and Ashley Heath of Kinston; second row, LCC Director of Institutional Advancement Jeanne Kennedy, nursing students Stephanie Metts of Richlands, Christopher Fillingame of Cove City and Dean of Health Sciences/Nursing Dr. Alexis Welch.
