Lenoir Community College CRUMBACKER RECEIVES RAY JEFFERIES AWARD
Richard Crumbacker

Lenoir Community College student Richard Tate Crumbacker was recently awarded the Ray Jefferies Award at the North Carolina Comprehensive Community College Student Government Association (N4CSGA) Spring 2012 Conference in Durham. This award is given in honor of Ray Jefferies who made significant contributions to the creation and success of the N4CSGA. It is presented to a student who has displayed outstanding leadership and support to the N4CSGA. This award was selected by the organization’s executive board. During the presentation Crumbacker was described as an EMT, volunteer firefighter, husband, father, grandfather and student. He was honored for his continued support of the N4CSGA after he contracted swine flu from a patient he had transported. He spent weeks in the hospital fighting for his life and learning how to walk and eat again. Within six months of being hospitalized, he defied all odds and returned to work part time. N4CSGA Vice President NaTasha Moody said after all Crumbacker had been through he returned to the conference to assist the board in any capacity necessary. He exemplifies the Ray Jefferies Award.
