The Nell and Ford Dabney Scholars Program was established in 2006 by Mrs. Nell Dabney.
Candidates must be single female students who provide financial support for their custodial
children, and are pursuing a degree at Lenoir Community College.

Selection Criteria:
* candidates must be single female
* provide financial support for their custodial children
* demonstrate financial need
* pursuing degree at Lenoir Community College
* 2.5 or better cumulative GPA
* resident of Lenoir, Greene, or Jones Counties
* must be US citizens or visa-holding permanent residents

The goal of the Nell and Ford Dabney Scholars program is to promote academic excellence
and to provide an opportunity for single mothers with financial need to reach their fullest
potential. Mrs. Dabney established the initiative to encourage and support women as they
complete their degree. The scholarship award will enable women to prepare to assume
important roles as leaders in their professions and in their communities.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Annual Scholarship

Selection Criteria:
* must be resident of NC
* must be enrolled as a full-time student in a college transferable program
* must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better
* must agree to attend an activity conducted by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
* preference given to student living in Lenoir, Greene, or Jones Counties
