BROADWAY AND BEYOND
 
Eric Martinez

Eric Martinez will perform in Lenoir Community College’s 12th annual Broadway and Beyond.

He will be performing “I’ll Be There,” from “The Pirate Queen,” “The Confrontation” from “Les Miserables,” and “Why God,Why?” from “Miss Saigon.”

Martinez has sung with many regional and national music theatre and opera companies.  In musical theatre, he has performed such roles as Will Parker in “Oklahoma!” and Sancho Panza in “Man of la Mancha,” as well as other leading roles in newly produced shows.  The majority of his performance experience has been in opera.  

He has sung the role of Don Ottavio in “Don Giovanni” for the Rome Festival Opera, the roles of Nanki-Poo in the “Mikado,” First Armored Man in the “Magic Flute,” and the Dog in

 

“Mollicone's Starbird” with Opera Southwest.  He has also participated in many prestigious open apprenticeship programs with such companies as The Santa Fe Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, and the Amarillo Opera.  In these programs, he has performed the leading tenor roles in many opera scenes programs.   

Martinez studied with Jean Kraft of The Metropolitan Opera and The Santa Fe Opera.  Locally, he has performed for Christmas at the Community Council for the Arts in Kinston, the 2008 Broadway and Beyond, and most recently in the 2009 Miss Neuse Pageant.   He is from Albuquerque, NM, and holds a Bachelor Business Administration in Management of Information Systems from the University of New Mexico and a Masters Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Notre Dame.
